The LaGrange Police Department has arrested 2 subjects following a burglary investigation at LaGrange Coin Laundry in the 100 block of S. Walnut St.  Officers responded to the laundromat at approximately 01:59 a.m. on July 8, 2010 after a report of a burglary in progress was made through Oldham County Dispatch.  Upon officers’ arrival on scene, they observed the two suspects flee from the rear of the building, one of which was carrying a crow bar and a sock full of change.  Suspect Michael Rogers, 20, of LaGrange, was arrested after a foot pursuit, and was found to be in possession of $183 in coins and small bills.  Suspect Brandon Christianson, 18, of LaGrange, was arrested July 12, 2010.  Inside the business, police discovered damage to a Pot Of Silver gambling machine, a broken glass office door, and a commercial washing machine with the top pried off, causing damage in excess of $13,000.  Both suspects are charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief 1st degree, and Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot.

Officers of the LaGrange Police Department were dispatched to Wilborn Park June 17, 2010, at 11:01 pm to assist the fire department after numerous 911 calls were placed reporting an explosion, a large fire, and downed power lines.  Upon arrival, police found the playground equipment engulfed in flames and some power lines down which ran over the playground area.  The playground equipment is valued at $55,000.  The LaGrange Police Department and State Fire Marshal are continuing to investigate.  Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 225-0444.

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on May 30, 2010, in the 2000 block of S. Hwy 53.  The collision involved one motorcycle and one passenger car.  The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Richard L. Poff, Jr., 25, of LaGrange, KY.  Oldham County Police are assisting in the ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 225-0444.

During the course of a continuing narcotics investigation, the LaGrange Police Department executed a search warrant on Feb. 11, 2010, at 701 W. Madison St., LaGrange, KY.  The search produced numerous pieces of evidence which were used in the process of manufacturing and consuming methamphetamine.  LaGrange Police arrested Donnita L. Robinson, 36, who resides at 701 W. Madison St., and charged her with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a Class B Felony.  Randy K. Hedges, 28, of the 2700 block of W. Hwy 22, was also arrested at the scene and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine.  Both were booked in at the Oldham County Jail and held on a $2500 bond.  The Oldham County Police Department and Kentucky State Police assisted in the search.

The LaGrange Police Department is now accepting applications for the upcoming 2010 Citizen’s Police Academy.  During the Academy, citizens will meet on Thursdays at 6:00 pm between March 18 and May 20 to learn all about the LaGrange Police Department and the Justice System in Oldham County.  Specific areas targeted in the Academy include crime scene investigations, patrol, tours of the jail, courthouse, and dispatch center, and instruction in the areas of criminal law, firearms, and tasers.  There will be numerous guest speakers as well as an opportunity for each member of the Academy to ride with a LaGrange Police Officer while on duty to experience firsthand how police officers perform their duties.

 

There citizen’s academy is free of charge, and applications may be picked up at LaGrange Police Department headquarters, 410 W. The LaGrange Police Department has hired Phil Feigel as its newest officer.  Feigel was sworn in by Mayor Elsie Carter at LaGrange Police Headquarters on 12-28-2009.  He joins LPD after spending 10 years with the Oldham County Sheriff’s Department while residing in LaGrange.  Feigel obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisville.  He is married with two children.

The LaGrange Police Department hosted its annual awards ceremony December 12, 2009.  Awards and recipients include the following:

Officer Pete Dunlap is retiring from LaGrange Police Department effective August 1, 2009.  He has had a long career in law enforcement, beginning in 1968 when he was hired by Louisville Police Department after his return from Vietnam.  In 1972 he began working for Jefferson County Police Department, and retired from there in 1996 after achieving rank of Lieutenant.  Dunlap returned to law enforcement in 2000 when he was hired by the Oldham County Sheriff’s Department, and then transferred to the LaGrange Police Department in 2005.  Throughout his career in law enforcement Dunlap has worked several specialty areas including internal affairs, criminal investigation, helicopter unit, motorcycle detail, EMS, firing range, and started an Underwater Search and Recovery Team.  Dunlap is 62 years old, and is married with three children.

On July 01, 2009 the LaGrange Police Department promoted Frank Conway to the position of Major.  He has 17 years of experience in law enforcement, and has worked for the City of LaGrange Police Department since 1998.  Major Conway’s past duties with LaGrange Police include both patrol and detective work.  He has been a supervisor for the last 8 years as a Sergeant.  Conway is married with a 7 year old son, a 15 year old step son, and a 17 year old step daughter.

The LaGrange Police Department has hired Jeremy Ferguson, 23, as its newest officer.  He is from Albany, KY and brings the department up to 13 full time officers.  Ferguson was sworn in by Mayor Elsie Carter on June 9, 2009.

The LaGrange Police Department and Oldham County Police Department are conducting a joint investigation of a homicide occurring at Creekside Apartments last night, Sunday, February 1.  The victim has been identified as James E. Bailey, a 33 year old white male, who lived at Creekside Apartments.  Police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting which was made last night at 9:24 pm.  Investigators are currently at the KY Medical Examiners Office where an autopsy of the victim is scheduled for this morning.  The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.  Anyone with information is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at (502) 225-0444 or the Oldham County Police tip line at (502) 222-1300, ext. In reference to the homicide investigation of James E. Bailey, the KY Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Bailey is deceased due to a gunshot wound. Previous runs to the victim’s residence include only one call to Oldham County Dispatch on October 20, 2008, which is unrelated to this homicide investigation.

The LaGrange Police Department hosted its annual Awards Ceremony on December 12, 2008.  Awards and recipients include the following:

 Officer of the Year was awarded to Officer David Stratton in recognition of his outstanding dedication and commitment, as elected by his fellow officers.

 The Meritorious Service Award was presented to Sergeant Rouff and Officers Whitehill, Stratton, and Wolf for going above and beyond the call of duty in the course of their daily patrols.

 The Crime Prevention Award was presented to Officer Doug Hickerson for his exceptional efforts in patrolling business districts and subdivisions in LaGrange.

 The DUI Award was given to Officer Charles Fudold in recognition of effecting the most DUI arrests during 2008.

 The Traffic Safety Award was presented to Officer Shannon Cunningham for his work in promoting traffic safety and enforcing traffic laws within the City of LaGrange.

 

The LaGrange Police Department has arrested Jonathan P. Markle, 28, of LaGrange, and charged him with Burglary Third Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.  On or about the morning of 11-30-2008, it is alleged that Markle unlawfully entered a building at 111 S. First Ave; both State Farm Insurance and Radio Latina conduct business in that building and both businesses had numerous items stolen, including computer hardware and tools.  The reported value of all the stolen property is $4700.00.  Police say that Markle admitted to the burglary and disposing of the computers in dumpsters and trash cans around the city, but would provide no further information.  Markle was released from the Oldham County Jail after posting 10% of his $1000 bond.

 

The LaGrange Police Department has charged Nick Yepko, III, 19, of LaGrange, and Ryan Vogel, 19, of Louisville, with Attempted Theft By Unlawful Taking.  Police say that Yepko and Vogel were witnessed by some watchful neighbors as they made their way through a LaGrange Subdivision and tried car doors to see if they could find unlocked cars.  The pair made entry into an unlocked vehicle and began looking for money.  Yepko and Vogel were found by LaGrange Police after a concerned neighbor called to report the suspicious activity.  Yepko was arrested 11-14-2008 for the offense after a warrant was issued.  As of 11-29-2008, Vogel still has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a possible hit & run collision occurring at Tractor Supply in LaGrange.  The vehicle that left the scene is described as a dark red or maroon Ford Explorer, with a “UK” plate displayed in the front.  This vehicle also has a busted taillight lens on the rear of the vehicle as a result of the collision.  Anyone with information about this vehicle is requested to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 225-0444.

The LaGrange Police Department has arrested Edith M. Harris, 29, of New Castle, and charged her with two counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and two counts of Unlawful Access to Computer, 1st degree.  Police say Harris unlawfully obtained goods using a debit card while falsely representing herself as the authorized card holder.  According to the arrest citation, Harris completed two transactions at Wal-Mart in LaGrange on October 18, totaling $448.11.  Harris was released from the Oldham County Jail on a partially secured $2500 bail.

The LaGrange Police Department has arrested Tommy L. Burgin, 32, of the 1600 block of Water Works Rd., LaGrange, and charged him with Burglary, 3rd Degree.  Police say that Burgin forcefully entered a locked storage building and stole several tractor trailer parts.  Burgin then sold these parts to another person.

North Oldham Little League is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) who broke into their office and concession area at 600 Fourth Ave. the night of September 8.  LaGrange Police state that the suspect(s) climbed onto the roof of the announcing booth and made entry through a second story window.  Once inside, the suspect(s) kicked open the office door and used baseball bats to force open the sliding counter door to the concession stand.  North Oldham Little League reports that approximately $100 was stolen, along with numerous food items from the concession stand.  Anyone with information is asked to call LaGrange Police Department at 225-0444 or Oldham County Dispatch at 222-0111.

The LaGrange Police Department has arrested Angel Geronimo, 40, on charges of Robbery, 1st degree, and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.  Police say that Geronimo, a Hispanic Male, was employed by the victim at Jumbo Buffet and reportedly at the victim’s residence when the incident took place on August 21, 2008.  Geronimo pulled out a knife from his waist band and made jabbing motions with the knife towards the victim while demanding money.  Geronimo left the house and was located by officers upon their arrival on scene.

The LaGrange Police Department has charged five local juveniles in an extensive criminal syndicate including the criminal offenses of Robbery, Burglary, Theft By Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, Theft of Controlled Substances, Trafficking in Controlled Substances, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Engaging in Organized Crime.  These offenses took place throughout LaGrange at 13 different residences between March and June, 2008.  Resulting from an extensive investigation by police into this syndicate, a total of 66 charges have been filed against the five subjects involved, and the investigation is ongoing.

Local Arrestee Discovered To Be Fugitive From Texas Using Alias

In an ongoing investigation by the LaGrange Police Department into the theft case against Star Lopez, of the 150 block of Lee St., it was discovered that Star Lopez is actually Camlia Delores Tenorio, a fugitive from Texas with numerous warrants and probation violations.  She has been using numerous social security numbers, birthdates, and as many as ten aliases, while living in Oldham County since 2006.

Tenorio was arrested initially by LaGrange Police on 05-28-2008 on theft of controlled substances and money.  Tenorio was discovered to be the defendant in warrants issued out of Gonzales County, Texas, on charges of Delivery of Marijuana, Theft of Stolen Property, and probation violations; she was arrested by LaGrange Police on 06-06-2008.  Subsequent to that arrest, police discovered that Tenorio was also the defendant in a 2006 traffic case in Jefferson County, using the name Star Hernandez and a false birthdate, in which a bench warrant was issued for failure to appear.  She is currently held on a $20,000 cash bond, and will be extradited to Texas.
